Phalanx Inferno/Melek-Tha – Order of Eternal Indifference

Releasedate: 28-12-2021
Label: Godz Ov War Productions

A split by Phalanx Inferno and Melek-Tha reached our headquarters. “ Order of Eternal Indifference”  got released last year.

Phalanx Inferno has its  homebase in the United States of America and they have been creating Black/Death since 2019. A rather young formation still, not much previous material saw light. Let’s talk about them first, even though they are not opening this release. Four tracks of brutality are flying around you in a tempo one can’t anticipate for. I had to think a bit of Deicide here and there but it’s not too close for comfort. Songs like “ Broken Spirit March”  are presenting a battle within a track, the guitars are much dominant, but the vocals are laying that extra layer of filth on it.

On the rest of the split as well as the opening track, it is Melek-Tha we are listening at. An interesting combination with Phalanx Inferno we must say. A French project with a Dark Ambient approach. They created a frame for Phalanx Inferno on this split, the transition is therefore not too crazy. The two of them together may not be for everyone though.
However, the darkness that is within their part of the split surely resonates well with us. The strongest part is the way they manage to bring the atmosphere across. Haunting,  deep and  powerful. Soundscapes that keep you listening, and you can find a bit more about at every new rotation.

Interesting collaboration these two. Darkness can come at various ways, that’s  for sure.
