Mortyfear – My Dystopia

Releasedate: 15 July 2021
Label: Inverse Records

Mortyfear is formation from Seinajöki, Finland. The guys have released their debut in 2006 and anno 2021 they return with a new release called “My Dystopia”. It is available from July 15th.

What you can expect from this band is a mix of Death and Thrash and some influences of other genres. This all in a melodic edge. An Industrial feel to it is also quite present, reminding a slight bit to the first Fear of Domination release. Album opener “Circus Called Life“ is setting you up with the right portion of chaos from the beginning. Take a moment to get into it and when you get the feelfor what this band is after you can enjoy some organized chaos for sure.
For it is brought in a well-thought way. It all has its place and purpose. Riffs that are leading but not overly drawing attention. Keys setting you up with a rather eerie atmosphere and this rages on throughout the album. Make sure you won’t miss “Plastic World” either as it has a sharp edge and leans into everyday topics.

Mortyfear is a bit remarkable, but in the Finnish scene this kind of music is not as uncommon as elsewhere. It will not serve everyone, one must be open to have these different elements blend in together and brought with chaos but when this kind of music is your thing than Mortyfear is surely worth to listen to. We enjoyed it for its experimental edge and the chaos they put down for you.
