German formation Caliban has quite some years and also a long list of albums on the counter. The band is releasing album number thirteen. It is called “Zeitgeister” and it is available now.

Metalcore fans can be happy with a new release from these Germans, however one must be aware that some of these songs have been released before. It is a celebration of what they did before, modernize it and bring this out again with German lyrics. Personally the English songs of the band have always served us well and while listening to German versions it is does not have the same effect. Nevertheless the band has explained that it felt all natural to them and that makes sense.
The songs they give us are interesting in many ways, the riffs have been enriched and there is enough variation in it, making that the album listens easily. If you look at “Trauma” you see the band playfully bringing some dynamics into it. Also “Mein Inferno” jumps out in this tracklist for that reason.

If you are familiar with the older work you can say the songs are improved a lot, years of experience have made the band stronger and therefore it is a joy to hear the older songs and their improvements side to side. Which is what we can recommend you to do.

Whether you enjoy the German lyrics or not, Caliban has created an album that is worth to look into. It shows a band that reinvents themselves and their own work. “Zeitgeister” it is for sure!
