Dear Superstar (UK) did a little tour in Finland. For their show in Tampere
they played with the bands Parasite City and Renoise. This last one was starting this evening.
A little later than actually planned, they came on stage. The band, who started in 2002, plays some easy-listening metal. Just listen and enjoy, not worry too much about the rest. During the first songs, most people stood a little away from the stage, but the main reason for that was, that there was one enthusiastic fan/visitor who kind of lost his mind in there. It kind of brought a downward spiral to the atmosphere there, but later on the audience started to ignore him. For me, the band got me when they played a cover of the dance song “What Is Love” (Haddaway, 1993). I did not expect that at all and it got me in a positive way. It totally brought back the good atmosphere in Hellä.
Next band was Parasite City. Modern hard rock with a little inspiration from the 80´s. This band has quite some shows scheduled according to their
MySpace. No need to wonder why these guys are doing so well if you saw the gig of this evening. Their professional attitude and good mood bring a good show to watch. Their show was quite energetic and together with some solid rock songs the guys really made left? an impression. The audience ended up a lot closer to the stage as well. The band did already over 100 shows in Finland and also played in other European countries. I won´t be surprise to hear more from them in European charts someday.
Dear Superstar was headlining this night. The band already enjoyed the evening quite well, drinking with the audience and now it was up to them to entertain us. Rock and roll as they are, the band gets onstage, but where is their singer?
He comes later and whenever he is ready the band starts playing. Interesting to see how they manage to play here with their drunkenness. What I really liked is that some songs started of exactly the same way as some emocore bands do, it gives their music an original twist.
You would not necessarily expect the screams in there. Somewhere halfway their set, the drummer takes over the microphone to announce he is getting more naked.
By the end of the set he ended up completely naked.
Overall interesting evening. We got some rock and roll as
it supposed to be!
