Pantheon I is a Black Metal band formed in 2002. These Norwegian guys released their first demo in 2003, followed by a full length album released in 2004, “Atrocity Divine”, that is quite rare to find though. The big step arrived in 2007, when the band, after having signed to Candlelight Records, released their second full length album “The Wanderer And His Shadow” that made them more popular even outside Norway. And now “Worlds I Create” is their latest work.
“Worlds I create” is a very dynamic album, definitely not the typical Black Metal one. All the eight songs that compose it are pretty different each other and this is what makes the album not repetitive, fortunately. The most particular characteristic of the band is the use of a cello, played by Live Christine, not just as a background, but as a fundamental instrument like guitar or bass are. This instrument gives the album a more melancholic sound, but also contributes to quite the most brutal passages of the songs. “Ascending” is the only song that features Andrè Kvebek’s clean vocals, which I would have liked to listen more. Listening the album I clearly got why the band recorded a song for the American horror movie “Someone’s Knocking At The Door”: the atmosphere of every song is extremely ghostly, actually perfect for an horror movie. Finally, when the album finished, I got the impression of having just heard another face of Black Metal music that in this case is the fruit of a really good combination of brutal and symphonic elements.
