Turku Romantic Movement is a Finnish band who just released their second full length album “Turku Romantic Movement”.

The name of this band might surprise you at the first place, seeing that the MySpace of the band tells you that they are located in Helsinki. In Finland there is a rivalry between the cities Helsinki, Tampere and Turku. Seeing this band rose from the ashes of Turun Romantiikka which haves their location set more closer to Turku it starts making sense.
The change of language has to do with their international expectations and their latest release will be available in various European countries.
The music of this band is a mix of grunge and alternative with the look of the death-glam all over the artwork. The album is not really in one line, but the main reference that is there to find is probably the reference to Finnish band Sonic Roots. Less rock and roll but raw elements that bring up the underground feeling. Turku Romantic Movement reminds deeply to Sonic Roots of a couple years back and for them it is to hope that they grow to the same level where Sonic Roots is now since that sort of progress would bring the band to the exceptional level of being something unique. Right now there is something coming, but in this album there is not some highlight. It is a simple production, that speaks for the music as it just have to be raw and grim to show off that dirt in them. Maybe a little more shine could have been added though, it somehow draws the impression that this is home recorded album now.

Fans of that raw, underground rock music should keep an eye on this band. Those who prefer the clean polished kind of music should not bother to look into this band.
