Röyksopp is a Norwegian electronic music duo from Tromsø, composed of Torbjørn Brundtland and Svein Berge. The group formed officially in 1998 and released their debut album Melody A.M. on Wall of Sound in 2001. Since then they have three albums released. The newest is “Junior”.
The music of this album is very clubby. There is a female singer appearing on the songs. The melodies are quite relaxing yet very animating to go along. The songs are catchy and easy going, softly entering your mind and spreading there. You can find many synth pop as well as techno elements on this album.
The songs seem to have many layers and the deeper you look the more you will experience. “Vision One” begins with very dreamy sounds before the typical electro sound of Röyksopp sets in. “Röyksopp Forever” is an instrumental song with classic elements put into electro. “Miss It So Much” has a little bit of a toy sound. “Silver Cruiser” is an instrumental song as well.
The last few songs of the album are much slower and more like chill out music than the beginning of the album. Dreamier and more calm but still getting you at least nod or tip along.
