Hatebreed – For the Lions

Releasedate: 05-05-2009; Label: Century Media
By: Sabine van Gameren

Hatebreed is a Hardcore/punk band from Connecticut, USA. Their new studio album is called: “For The Lions”

The band formed in 1994 so this year they celebrate their third lustrum. They built their name mainly with a extensive touring schedule and shared stages with bands like Slayer, Entombed and Napalm Death.
The album “For The Lions” is an album full of covers. The band covered bands like Metallica, Slayer and Sepultura but also punk bands like Misfits for example. Why the band choose to make an album full of covers is still a miracle to me. Also, the band changes every song, not really stick to their own style. It might be more convenient to buy the albums of the original artist as Hatebreed did not feel bothered to make something really original out of it. Maybe they should have kept this for theirselves instead of spreading it on an album, probably it will do great during gigs as the songs are so recognizable though I expected a bit more creativity from a band that worked hard to built their name. Let’s skip this page in their career and let the guys go back to work to make something new, something of their own. We did not wait three god damn years for hearing songs of other bands!
