You’ve got to swing when he’s singing. David Rose is a German swing musician mostly inspired by Frank Sinatra. 2004 he founded his own orchestra. Now he has “Whispering Grass” released, a very fresh, smooth jazz and swing album. The songs are very romantic. “Little Girl” is great to swing along. You feel like thrown back right into the 40s when listening to it. David Rose is a gorgeous singer and knows how to use his voice to its full extent.
The recording quality also has this typical vinyl sound so you more likely think you are listening to a vinyl than a CD. The band completes that sound, especially with the saxophone and the typical swing piano playing. “Whispering Grass” sounds like an old TV soundtrack in the beginning, and then goes on swinging. David Rose sings with the softest voice melting even the coldest heart and brings spring in everybody’s heart. The songs seem endlessly but once they are over you are very sad and want that peace-spreading sound back.
A gorgeous album and a must for every Frank Sinatra fan but definitely not only.
