Sunrise Avenue is a Finnish rock quintet. Their style varies from hard, dynamic rock songs (e.g. “Forever Yours”) to melodic rock ballads like “Heal Me”. Their main success was the single “Fairytale Gone Bad”, which reached number one in several countries and is the bands most well known song. Now they have their second album “Popgasm” released, because this was not the end…

The album is as melodic and dreamy as the last one, yet can you tell that the four Finns gained more experience since the last album. The songs are easy to sing and sway along, also nice to dance along. “Rising Sun” differs from the main Sunrise Avenue song scheme. The melody is a little halting and not as smooth, but that makes the song even more special and maybe even gets you thinking about it. Another song with great deep lyrics is “Not Again”, a quite sad and personal song. “6-0” is a very symphonic song with orchestra and great classic melodies, a little fairytale like. “Welcome To My Life” is a very emotional song as well, basically all songs on this album are very emotional and close to the heart. If you listen close to the lyrics you will find out a lot and probably can relate to even more. “Monk Bay” is a great song for swaying along and cuddling. “Bye Bye” is a little faster song, better for dancing along, so is “Kiss’N’Run”. “Birds And Bees” is another odd and outstanding song, quite interesting hearing. During the intro and verses you check back several times if it’s really Sunrise Avenue, but as soon as they start singing you recognize it again.

“Popgasm” is a great pop album, perfect for sunny summer days, not only on the beach.
