Naked – Superstate

Release date: 15-08-2007, Label: Megamania
By: Nina Mende

Naked is inspired by bands such as KISS, Beatles, Thin Lizzy, The Who, Queen,
Led Zeppelin and Motown classics, NAKED was founded in Helsinki at the break
of the new millennium. With two albums (‘This One Goes To Eleven’,
  2004 and ‘Let’s Get Naked…And Start A Revolution’, 2006)
recorded, NAKED released two Finnish top-5 singles and played shows abroad in
Italy, Germany and Russia. NAKED also supported The 69 Eyes on their tour of
Finland in 2006. Stefan Lindfors (director of HIM-Funeral Of Hearts video) directed
two NAKED-videos, Sister and Revolution. The latter was filmed with The Muff
(singer) roaming the streets of London in a straitjacket.

In late 2006 NAKED’s line-up was finalised as bass monster Ilari was forced
to join the band. Shortly after, NAKED and producer Nick Triani plunged into
the task of recording their strongest, punkiest, wildest and ridiculously kick-ass
album ‘Superstate’, due in August 2007.

The first single ‘No One’s Perfect’ supports an epic, bombastic
and pillow-biting sound, as well as keeping it real. And now their new album
“Superstate” was released on August 15th. Here is what it sounds like:

First of all I think that Naked sound like Hardcore Superstar, Babylon Bombs
and other Swedish sleaze rock bands and a little bit like 80s rock.
As I listened to the new album for the first time I really found it easy to
sing along to the songs, which is very nice. Further does the album make you
move, you can hardly sit still listening to it. It is the perfect music for
a party because it has the skill to break your boundaries of shyness so you
can just go for whatever you like. (or who ever )
The song “no one’s perfect” reminds me of Hanoi Rocks.
The chorus of “feast like a king” make you jump around and is a typical
  “feeling good”-song.
The song “nothing but the truth” sounds a little bit like the Jet
songs and some parts slighly remind you of some My Chemical Romance styles.

The album ends with “superstate”, a song that sounds like a fanfare
and is a quite uncommon closing for an album, but Naked is not a common band
  either.
So are you ready to party and get naked??
