PMMP is a Finnish pop/rock band singing in Finnish with two female singers Paula and Mira. The band was founded in 2002 and has five albums released so far including the latest called “Veden Varaan”
I don’t have any previous albums of PMMP yet do I know quite many songs from the radio and several compilations. But it still took me a second listen to appreciate and even start liking the new album. Not only because of the very special intro which is almost freaky but at least crazy. I think you just should not take PMMP too serious at all times and more see it all with a smile on your face. Ok, that sounds weird, but that’s PMMP. After the crazy intro the album goes on in a mix between crazy, serious, fast and slow, fun and reality. It seems like PMMP take the life as a big playground during this album. “Lautturi” is a very nice, slow and thoughtful song while “viimeinen Valitusvirsi” is a little crazier again. “Taajama” is another very thoughtful song. While “Pariterapiaa” is more a play song again which is really funny listening to it. During the end of “Se Vaikenee Joka Pelkää” you can hear the fret changes on the guitar. The album spreads mostly happiness and joy. The booklet has interesting pictures in it and the back of the CD case shows a somewhat freaky yet very interesting picture as well. The lyrics to all songs are also to be found in the booklet.
