Hybrid Children has been main force in the Finnish punk scene since 1991. After numerous adventures and mishaps the band has found the best line-up ever and their 7th full length album “Fight As One” was unleashed in Finland on January 14th 2009 and with Germany, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, Netherlands & Luxembourg followed on March 20th. The critics have already praised the new album as a “best of their career” and the band is ready to introduce their Social Distortion -influenced punk-metal-rock to new and wider audiences.
The album is very fast, punky and kick ass rock. “Fight As One” starts right away with full speed and races through your mind and muscles to make you move and shout along. “Medicine Train” goes right along with that. The album reminds of big punk bands like Social Distortion, Bad Religion or even UK Subs. “Deathbreath Dynamo” has an extremely catchy chorus. Great riffs lead you through the song as well. “Dancing On Roses” is my favourite on the album not because it’s about roses but because it has a great melody and great lyrics. All lyrics on the album are worth listening to. “Worldwide Checkmates” continues with fast beats and riffs, a great song for circle pits when thinking of live shows. “Fire Always Burns in Us” has interesting bass and guitar lines, a great song as well and a potential “anthem”. “These Are The Moments I’m Living For” is a very easy going song, quite calm compared to the rest of the album. You pick up the chorus of this one very fast and you catch yourself swaying and singing along. The last song is a true goodbye song, calm and easy going. “Fight As One! Is a very energetic and powerful album, catchy songs and melodies combined with great lyrics.
