One Fine Day is a German rock band from Hamburg. Founded in 1997 they toured with several big artists already such as 4lyn, H-Bloxx and just recently with The Subways. They also played at many big festivals and have now their fourth album released. This self titled piece of work is held in all blue with band pictures in the booklet as well as the lyrics.
The music of One Fine Day reminds slightly of Billy Talent and My Chemical Romance. Thriving, powerful and catchy they rock on their newest album. Listening to this album I can greatly imagine the great feeling and atmosphere at their shows with lots of interaction between fans and band, but I’ll check that out later. The song “Jimmy’s Day” has a fast rhythm and is totally catchy. The shouting is easy to go along with. The music is a mix between pop elements, main stream rock as well as punk and some metal elements which creates their very own style. The song “Emily” even has some reggae styles in it. “Emily” is a very catchy song as well, slow and thoughtful, a very suitable song for radio stations. “The Shadow” starts out with something that sounds like a fight announcement and the intro theme of it reminds a lot of the “Nightmare Before Christmas” soundtrack, so does the chorus. The sound spreads happiness, frees you from all your worries and makes you boogie along. “Sunset” is quite danceable as well, it also features a female guest vocalist and includes hip-hop elements. Some songs cause pictures in your head and free your fantasy. “Showdown” starts with harsh riffs, very rocking and is a great song for moshing along. “Notorious” has a big dramatic sound making the band sound notorious themselves. Closer to the end you can hear the sound of a music box.
