After Uniklubi I’d consider this album hardcore electronic: Combichrist’s newest baby “Today We Are All Demons”. After I’d gotten forgotton I now finally hold the limited digipack in hands. Two CDs full of electronic club music ready to blast through the speakers. But let me start in the beginning:
Combichrist was formed in 2003 by Norwegian Andy LaPlegua (founder of the band Icon of Coil) as an aggrotech project. Combichrist has become quite popular since then. So far they have four albums released including the newest. The limited first edition of the latest album will come as a double disc in a Digipack, with a special bonus CD on which Andy unleashes his total sonic madness onto the world.
The album begins with a mailbox message before it begins with industrial and electro beats full of power. “Kickstart The Fight” is with female shouting which continue during the entire song. “I Want Your Blood” is a quite aggressive song. On the song “Can’t Change The Beat” Andy put more vocals, but the beat really doesn’t change. “Spit”starts out with female talking about her mom embarrassing her. That continues and repeats during the entire song. “Today We Are All Demons” reminded me of Vanity Beach, a slower song compared to the rest of the album with lots of lyrics. The bonus CD is completely different from the actual album. It appears calmer although there is still a fast paste, only the beats don’t seem that aggressive. The last song is very melodic and somehow reminds of Paul Van Dyk. A fast and aggressive album with an album cover held in all green. Get on your boots and up on the dancefloor. Combichrist is about to make you move!
