Tonight it was a bit different then any other gig. Normally you have support acts but today there was something else planned. The Dutch band Xystus presented their DVD Equillibio, which is a rock opera made with various artist like Simone Simons, George Oosthoek, Michelle Splietelhoef and John Vooijs. The rock opera was performed in july 2008.

First there was a possibility to watch the DVD on a big screen and a group of people came early to watch this together. After the registration of the rock opera Quillibro there was a small break but later Xystus appeared on stage. They first played songs from their own band, as it was the band presenting the DVD and showcasing some material from the DVD with two special guests. Special guest who joined on stage were Simone Simons and George Oosthoek. The played “Song of Creation”, “Powerdrunk”, Last Breath” and “God of Symmetry” amongst others.

Personally I think the style of Xystus as a band or the rock opera does not differ much from each other. Xystus made the rock opera so musical influences from them as a band can be heard at Quillibrio. It was really nice that the band had two guest performance, which the audience gladly received. I think some were special there to see either one of them. This presentation was really nice, and people who had not heard of the rock opera might know now and others might have seen Xystus as a band for the first time.
