Underground Attack – Sleazy Dream

Releasedate: 11-09-2008; Label: Frank Recordings
By: Nina Mende

Underground Attack arises from the ashes of sleaze rock group ‘Sleazy Dream’. Consisting of four fellows from Helsinki, Finland, Underground Attack is all about being creative, fresh and most importantly, independent from dominant musical integrities.

Several songs of the album I had heard before when the band was still called Sleazy Dream. The recording reminds of the 80s where the vocal tracks were not as clear and edited as now. The style of music is a lot like this as well. The vocals are quite high, like several 80s bands used to sing. But something is missing in the voice to make it sound strong and complete. Maybe it got lost in the editing, I am not sure. Although I like the 80s and the music from then, somehow this album is not what I expected. Listening to it I somehow get the urge for it to be over, which is sad because they are a great live band. I forced myself through the complete album though with the sparkling hope of any song to change, but it didn’t. I really feel sorry having to write such a bad review about it, since as I said before live they are better. Anyway, if you really love these sleazy high-pitched 80s bands you should give this album a shot. Maybe you will like it. I didn’t.
