Supports: Alias Caylon; Venue: Nachtleben, Frankfurt (Germany)

Not only just another day of living room atmosphere at Nachtleben in Frankfurt seeing one of my favorite German bands, but also the night before heading to Los Angeles. So here I was in the sold out Nachtleben about to see two German bands, one of them I had seen twice before: Turbostaat. First when they were on tour with Beatsteaks, and then at a festival.

But opening was Alias Caylon, existing since January 2001 and singing in English. The music of the four guys from German cities Flensburg and Schleswig is rock with elements of punk and hardcore. Early 4-track demos already proved that their sound and style sticks out of the bulk of bands and gained recognition and caused some euphoria within the European underground scene.
The singer seemed a little shy, but they did a great job as opener. Their music got the audience going and many people danced along. They talked a little with the audience and got replies to which they also reacted. A great band down to earth and close to the fans. Let’s hope they stay that way, but I am quite sure they will.

Now Turbostaat came on stage, rocking and having the audience sing along big time. Turbostaat is rocking in German since 1999, the songs are taken out of life and not like anybody else’s. They have three albums released so far, fourth is in the making. As Turbostaat began their show, the audience knew all songs by heart. The band talked a lot with their fans and enjoyed their time on stage, doing some jokes and simply having fun. Everybody danced along and sometimes even moshed along. The band played songs off all albums including some very old ones. The show lasted for about an hour. They came back twice for encore and nobody wanted to let them go. What a great performance.
