03-11-2008 Wednesday13

Supports: Big Boy; Venue: Schlachthof, Wiesbaden (Germany)
By: Nina Mende

Another day, another country and another Wednesday 13 show. Tonight they played in Wiesbaden/Germany. The club was totally tiny compared to Astoria in London, but it was crowded as well. The light was terrible, so I couldn’t take many pictures.

Quite shocking for me was that Big Boy was opening for them, that band didn’t quite fit. Their show wasn’t good at all. Many fans and other people watching thought so as well. Big Boy hasn’t changed their show much – not to say at all – since the first time I had seen them and there was no improvement or progress seeable in all the times I had seen them. But they pulled of a show as if they had grown since the beginning. Quite sad to watch. The communication with the audience was none either. Although Big Boy tried to get the audience cheer for Wednesday 13 they did not quite do so. The applause after every song was not too much either. The band continued playing their 20 minutes set without getting irritated by that though. Many people had gone outside to smoke before they were done though.

After the changeover the zombie-clown was on stage running around again, just like in London. The cheering was extremely loud and everybody was so happy to finally see Wednesday 13. They began playing after entering stage and rocked the club big time. Everybody had fun, there was a little moshpit going on but everybody was dancing and singing along. Wednesday 13 played many Murderdolls songs and the audience did everything what the band asked of them. Nate (bass player) was making fun with us because we were standing right in front of him. He was hanging on to the bar above him or just holding on to it at times, choking himself with the guitar cable and so on. The band put on a very energetic performance, also spreading the energy with it. Everybody shouted along, banging, shaking their fists and horns along, simply rocking out. The band played for more than an hour plus encore. The show was not getting close to the one in Astoria, but it was still a very gorgeous show. I can’t wait to see them live again.
