End of You is a Finnish band, that plays rock with electronic sounds. I first heard about this band back in 2005 when they had a hit with “Walking With No One” in 2006 they released their debut album “Unreal” which had great tracks on it but I have not heard much about them since then. Until now. I found out they released a new album “Mimesis” in April this year.
The released single from this album is “You Deserve More” which starts like a children’s musical box. This track shows what End of You is all about. They have the melancholic darker part from the rock and metal, some tracks have gothic influences and they have electronic sounds that differentiate their music. The electronic addition results in some danceable tracks but it still rocks while Jami’s voice adds to the melancholic atmosphere. “Number 8” starts for example with a good disco beat and a whispering voice and has some 80s wave influences.
“Mimesis” is produced by Hiili Hiilesmaa (who you might know from other productions for HIM, The 69 Eyes and Apocalyptica). Overall I like the album, it is a good follow-up to “Unreal”. It has some nice surprises such as a cover of Goldeneye . A tricky cover, because everyone will know this 007 track. Tina Turner sings this song in such a strong way, but End of You created a nice version. Although I think the vocals could have been a bit sharper at some places, it is a nice track on the album.
