16-09-2008 The Hellacopters

Supports: Bloodlights; Venue: Schlachthof, Wiesbaden (Germany)
By: Nina Mende

The Hellacopters are on Goodbye-tour, but that was not the reason why I was there.
I was there because Bloodlights were supporting them.

Another choice for that day had been the last show of the Private Line tour in Stuttgart, but that was too far away for me to make it there in time that day. I was even way too late to the show in Wiesbaden which is right next to Frankfurt. So I arrived late at the venue, missed half of the Bloodlights performance but was in time for seeing the Damned cover they always play “New Rose”, for hearing some new songs and “Bullshit on Your Mind”. The few songs I saw of them were great, the audience loved them. All that happened at Schlachthof in Wiesbaden, a quite big place and it was crowded. There was lots of cheering for the four Norwegians and the people actually wanted more after the band had left the stage.

But there was no encore because it was now time for The Hellcaopters. The venue was full of fans of these five Swedes. Founded in 1994 the guys have built up a huge fan base worldwide and have played many many shows. Every one of the people tonight could sing along. Hellacopters had great light with some fog and the music was great as well. The audience was clapping and cheering along to it very loud and enjoyed this show of the goodbye-tour. Many people had Hellacopters-tattoos and almost everybody had some merch of the band somewhere, if not they went to buy it at the merch stand. Their show lasted for over an hour plus encore. Although I have never seen them live before and don’t have any albums of them nor am a fan or anything did I enjoy the show big time, the music was easy to get into and tap or dance along, cheer and clap. A great band, much appreciated by their fans who also seemed to be quite loyal. Too bad the band will stop now… But hey, we still have Bloodlights who will be around, right?
