Curse is a project of Eldur (a.k.a Potentiam, Fortid). He started to work under this name after his band Thule splitted in 1998. In 2010 the project Curse became a duo when drummer Daniel Theobal joined. Their latest release is called: “Void Above, Abyss Below”
Curse is a project that brings some dark, dark metal. Also, the albumw as quite improvised as they say. You may that back a little, some parts could have been done a bit more elaborated, but in general the material of these guys works quite well. The guitars can be quite surprising, having this transcendental side that drives into extremes. Luckily Eldur keeps it at the border, and does not cross the line with making it too strange as there also needs to be some space for the vocals. Those seem to match quite well and overall it seems to fit like a solved puzzle. Considering this Curse project some bad things has happened. Tracks disappeared due a computer crash, and focus on the Fortid project kept things quiet around Curse, but now with this album out things seem to fall into place. Whether Eldur will take this project up for another release anytime soon, or that the focus maybe on another project is unknown, but for now “Void Above, Abyss Below” will be there to enjoy.
