Symbolic is a German Melodic Death Metal formation. They have started in 2005 as they “had the idea of inventing a new way of Melodic Death Metal”. Their album “Scarvest” is out now.
With such a statement you may expect a lot. On this Melodic Death Metal bus have been many bands, not all as refreshing as the other, so Symbolic will have to come with quite some to convince people of their statement being true.
The band does not pop in a lot of clean vocals as many did before. Bonus for them. The band remains quite aggressive on the vocal front as well as the instrumental part. The drums are a good example of keeping up with the Death. The guitars are the main supplier for the melodics as you may have expected, but the riffs that they bring somehow are kept in a modest melodic way. It’s not too upfront and overly present that it starts to be cheesy. Another bonus for them. In between the band comes with a breaking point. The slow, instrumental song “MySery” gives you a moment of rest before the final three songs come in with the usual vehemence that these guys have over them. And they quickly confront you with some speed. A nice contrast.
“Scarvest” is a nice release, a little remark on it may be that the band doesn’t have that typical theme song, catchy and recognizable that after listening it once you recognize when being played live. But give the album some more time and you will certainly enjoy it.
