After not seeing them at the WGT because I was too tired to go to their midnight special, I now saw them in Frankfurt at U60311: Northern Lite. Northern Lite are four guys from Erfurt, Germany founded in 1997. The music is a mix between electro pop and rock.

U60311 is an underground club in the center of Frankfurt. The club used to be a metro subway back in the day and is now a quite known electro club in Germany. It is a very interesting location and the DJs play great dance music. The venue was filling up with many different kinds of people. There were also typical party people that I hadn’t expected at a Northern Lite show. It was very crowded as the guys started playing. They were the only band playing.

The show started out in almost complete darkness and got brighter step by step but still stayed quite dark. There was no great light show like it must have been at some other shows according to what I got told. The audience went wild to the mellow electro music of Northern Lite, some people danced like it had been a punk concert. It was really great so see what fans make out of the music. They all cheered very loud and sang along, shouting song request up to the little stage. The guys of Northern Lite did not talk too much to the audience but it was a quite familiar feeling nevertheless. There was a wordless interaction between the audience and the band, a silent bond. As the singer searched for his lighter somebody in the audience helped him out with his own. Everybody danced, some seemed to have drifted away and just felt the music. The passion to the music was almost touchable. It was a really great show with a gorgeous atmosphere like I have barely ever felt before. Northern Lite played songs from all albums including all released singles from the latest album. They also played an encore as the audience was calling for it.
