Release date: 06-07-2007, Label: Mate in Germany

After working 24-7 almost all the time I decided to “take off” a week.
Unfortunately one CD was buried underneath all the stuff on my desk, so that
I didn’t think of finishing that before I started that week. So it happened that I just now spotted it, and now, here I was on my way to Helsinki, finally listening to the album and writing about it.
I have never heard of Dagmar and The Seductones before and they have probably
never heard of me before either, but I still have their CD now.
In 2001, Andrea Dagmar Brown put together a band of the best musicians she
knew from her years performing in the Washington DC area–Dagmar and The Seductones!
“Come Back To Me,” Dagmar and The Seductones’ second CD, was released
this year and that is the one.
Listening to the album reminded me of Elvis and music like that, sounding quite
like swing and blues.
The lyrics are not very long per song, they are kept simple and because of that
they are easy to get stuck in your head. The song structure is kept quite simple
as well. The stand-up bass is not as outstanding as usual. In the song “Come
Back To Me” Dagmar sings some parts in Spanish.
All in all this album is not an outstanding one, listening to it you feel like
you would be sent back to the time between the 30s and the 60s. It is a nice
album, but I would only recommend it to people who like this style of music.
