The BossHoss is a band from Berlin/Germany which started in 2004 with Country & Western style cover versions of famous pop, rock and hip hop songs, for example “Hot in Herre” by Nelly, “Toxic” by Britney Spears and “Hey Ya!” by Outkast.
They incorporate stereotypical American cowboy behavior into their act. They wear stetson hats, tank tops, large sunglasses, display whiskey bottles, and yell heehaw. Since then they have released three albums, the latest one is called “Stallion Battalion”.
The album is very country like, has some Hillbilly sound – not in a bad way though – and sounds very much like the typical music from the American country side. The second song “Monkey Business” is very easy to sing and swing along. There is not only one singer, but the band takes turns singing which makes the whole album more interesting but even more western like. The BossHoss is a band that you don’t find every day, a unique sound for common European radio yet not too country to be set aside. The album is interesting and great for everybody who likes Rockbilly music, Elvis, 50s music, country and so on. To make the recommendation short: just give it a shot, you won’t regret it. Interesting beats and sounds that go straight to your bones and muscles and make you dance and sing along. The BossHoss, a band I now would like to see live. A great album, thank you.
