If you thought Vinyl is out of date, you were wrong. More and more bands release
their singles besides on CDs also on 7” Vinyl. And so did Vanity Beach
from Helsinki/Finland on New Year’s Eve 2007. Limited to 500 of its kind, I
now am proud owner of number 73, hand numbered and unique. The Vinyl includes
the song Batcave (We Come Out at Nights) and Garden of Cruelty as B-side, which
were already released as single on CD a couple of months ago.
I love the special sound of vinyls, the soft cracking and the needle “reading”
the music. And I also love the song Batcave. A great electronic/rock song that
makes you sing and jump along for sure. Getting stuck in your head is guaranteed
as well. Garden of Cruelty is a great song as well, nice lyrics and great melody.
Too bad that you have to turn the vinyl after each song, so if I feel like listening
to the songs over and over again, I rather stick with the CD. But the vinyl
is great to have as well as collector and lover of the mary old days or simply
as fan of Vanity Beach.
Slightly irritated I was by the band picture on the backside of the cover because
their eyes shine yellow. On the middle of the vinyl itself there’s a hand
holding a cigarette.
Great thing to have, thanks Vanity Beach. Now the waiting for the album which
should be finished some time this year is not that hard anymore. And for those
who don’t have a record player: get the “Garden of Cruelty” single
including the songs “Garden of Cruelty”, “Batcave” and “Bitch
in a Bodybag”. At least you can press repeat there.
