HIM is a Finnish rock band from Helsinki, formed in 1991 by vocalist Ville Valo, guitarist Mikko Lindström, and bassist Mikko Paananen. On September 5, 2005, HIM’s fifth studio album Dark Light was certified gold by the RIAA, making HIM the first Finnish band to have a gold album in the United States. HIM had five of their studio albums certified platinum in Finland with Razorblade Romance being certified double platinum in Finland and platinum in Germany. They are now releasing their seventh studio album “Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice”.
This album was long awaited by fans. HIM seemed to have taken their time, taking a break from intense touring and all the other stuff they always had going on. As well as the album before, “Screamworks” was recorded in Los Angeles. Melodic and dreamy, yet very rocking and catchy Ville sings very beautiful love songs on this album. All songs are great to sing along. The faster ones also to dance along, the slower only to sway along. Deep and touchy does not only Ville touch you with his voice but the entire arrangement of each song does. “Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice” is probably one of the deepest songs without sounding dark and gloomy. As a matter of fact this album carries a lot of hope. I really like this new release of HIM: All songs are very passionate and Ville uses his full range of voice. Many different music elements and styles are being used, but you can still find the typical HIM sound in each song. I hope you all enjoy this album as much as I did.
