Elysion – Silent scream

Releasedate: 18-12-2009; Label: Massacre Records
By: Lara Cappelli

Elysion career started in 2006 when guitarist Johnny Zero founded the band with singer Maxi Nil. After Maxi’s departure Elysion searched better luck giving a try to a female singer with which they registered their first demo in 2008 and their full length, Silent Scream, that will make them tour around Europe and America in the near future.

Here we are with another female-fronted metal/rock band that, as always, keeps its strong point in the singer’s capability, that in this case answers to the name of Christianna. Hers is doubtless a very melancholic and delicate voice that goes straight to the songs atmosphere which are actually built around her.
Another fundamental role played here is that of ponderous guitar riffs by Johnny Zero which contributes in giving a huge variety to the songs. Despite the clearly hearable search for the catchy refrain that makes the whole album very accessible, variety is probably the most enjoyable characteristic that you may find on it, which makes it all shrink away from banality and boredom. Then again, originality is still something to hope for among this variety but through Silent Scream, Elysion has perfectly shown its incredible potential which hopefully will make them able to get a runner up in their promising future.
