Release date: 2007, Label: Sony BMG (sweden)
By: Nina Mende
Neverstore exploded on the scene in early 2007 with the release of their debut
album „Sevenhundred Sundays“. Coming from Skövde, a small town
in Sweden, Jacob (Vocals, Guitar), Oskar (Bass) and Erik (Drums) were just 15
years old when they started the band Neverstore. Maybe it was their small town mentality that brought them a record deal after six years of hard work. “We could
have gone for five more years with the same passion and commitment. This was
our number 1 goal”, Jacob says. But it was happening now! Neverstore is
nominated for this years MTV European Music Awards in the categories “Best
Swedish Act” and “New Sounds of Europe”, more nominations in
near future will come for sure.
Since their album release in early 2007 the band has had over 80 gigs and has
created a huge fan base, not only in Sweden. Neverstores’ punk rock music
is full of energy, melody and attitude. And all this can be heard on the album
“Sevenhundred Sundays”. You can also hear the huge influence in their
music by bands such as Green Day, NOFX, Blink 182 and even Good Charlotte. This
band is not a typical Swedish band, at least they don’t sound like that.
Listening to the album, you more likely think of them being an American skater
band, probably coming from California rather than Sweden. Another thing is their
age: they are all in their early twenties, but when you listen to the album
you totally don’t realize that. They sound very professional. The Album
artwork is done by Charlie Granberg, a great Swedish guy, who does Album artwork
and videos for bands in the Stockholm area.
So if you like skate punk rock and bands like Green Day, NOFX and so on, I
am sure you will love this album and this band. These three Swedish guys will
conquer the world!
