OneRepublic is an American pop rock band formed in Colorado. After a few years of moderate success, they have drawn mainstream attention with the release of their singles “Apologize”, and “Stop and Stare”. This is their second album “Waking Up”.
The new album is not as loaded with emotions as the last one, but it is still a great album with lots to discover. You can hear a choir, western guitar, church like singing and marching sounds on it. Eleven songs where no one is like the previous yet again they all fit together perfectly well.”Everybody Loves Me” is a very interesting piece for example. “Missing Person 1 & 2” is a piano piece, something like the new “Apologize”, a very gorgeous one, so is “All This Time” and “Waking Up”. With this album OneRepublic tried some new stuff and it worked out for them. You can hear styles from all their influences on the album. But again you can find many classic instruments on it as well as a lot of piano accompanied by Ryan’s gorgeous voice. Eleven touchy and thoughtful songs that are definitely getting your heart. The album layout looks like paint is splattered all over. The lyrics as well as one band picture are in the booklet. Besides that it looks very plain. Enjoy letting “Waking Up” getting deep underneath your skin and taking you away. OneRepublic made it again: A wonderful album that you simply can’t go by.
