Releasedate: 28-09-2009; Label: My Kingdom Music
By: Sabine van Gameren
The Italian Black Metal band Infernal Angels formed in 2002. After a couple of releases it is now time for “Midwinter Blood” to be the first release under My Kingdom Music.
This formation might not be known for the most comprehensive Black Metal music made. In their compositions it is mostly the vocals that tend to be raspy and unlikely to impress who dominate the music. Guitars are not the most breathtaking either as most of the riffs are far from interesting and originality. Drums might be the best part of the album but don’t expect a killer here either. “Midwinter Blood” tends to be a collection of simplicity when being announced as more rotten than ever this kind of worries me for the future of the band. After all the releases that passed my hands this is one that I rather pull out of my cd player sooner than later. For the music you don’t have to buy it, the artwork of the album might make it up a bit as, although it is not that original either, is basically the most precious thing of it all.
Unfortunately I am not familiar with the band’s earlier work so I am not in the position if this was just a onetime misery or this was in line with what had been done before, but this album is not remarkable.
