16-10-2009 Throw Away Heroes

Venue: Club Liberte, Helsinki (Finland)
By: Sabine van Gameren

Throw Away Heroes are “more or less formed in 2005”. The Helsinki based band played in Club Liberte on 16 October 2009.

The show was on and going already with two bands as warming up, but Throw Away Heroes are the most raw of them. Some sleazy dirty elements spoke up as you might expect when seeing Backyard Babies and not only the music is up to that, the performance tends in that direction. The small stage of Liberte is not giving much space to rock, but the guys seem to find a way to manage it all. It is to say that the set could have been built a bit more destructive instead of with waves of excitement, but with Throw Away Heroes you can be sure that you see a band that will entertain you. The club is known for having a horrible sound and that reputation came up tonight as well, but for the dirt that comes with music like this it can actually fit in as part of this underground feeling. The thing I did miss a bit tonight was a son that sticks in mind and you still sing in your head when you are on your way home, but perhaps that one will be written soon.
