Defect Designer is a Death Metal band from Russia. They formed in 2005 and “Wax” is their debut album.
The first thing to nice, is the artwork from the album. It is really living up the album title and made me curious to what the music would bring me. The band brings technical metal. The riffs are the heart of the music. Although announced as “Progressive Extreme Death” I found the band not too extreme. With “Wax” there seems to be some sort of ironic horror element that somehow make the experience of this album strange. The oddities are eternally unthinking; riffs make you mind often go to work, set that brains on fire. Melodies are bringing the creeps up your back, there is something going on. Spooky periods, you must not be afraid to go into an area you don’t know with Defect Designer. Also hysterical addition to the sound is the drums. Sometimes you should put your senses to hear it as they are not demanding your attention in first place, but when discovered there is plenty of space for listening the album a couple more times to keep that exploration course going.
When you consider yourself a musical Columbus, Defect Designer is an album worth to listen to. But a little warning for the melomanical discoverers must be placed. Be prepared for all circumstances, Defect Designer has a cold atmosphere over them. Well, not all the beauty comes with warm climates.
