Demia is a metal band from The Netherlands. They have been known under the
name Cancelled before.
Guitarist DMN: “The name Cancelled started out as sort of a joke that was
kind of catchy and also did result in a lot of recognition, but when we started
playing abroad more and more it turned out that the obvious problems on posters,
flyers and program leaflets were pretty serious”
Therefore they changed the name to Demia.
Recently they have been touring in Europe with he band Pro-pain. Signed at
the Italian label Scarlet Records, they released their first album “Insidious”.
They make a combination of thrash and hardcore metal. The album
starts of with “Phantom Limbs” which they recently made a video
for. It is followed by the songs “Reciprocity” and
“Sweet Salivation”. In these songs are a unique overall style and
interesting instrumental mix hearable.
In their music I hear also some influences from the band Caliban. No surprise
that I found out they have been touring together. Seems like Demia earned a
lot of credits by touring and gained a lot of experience by that. For what they
deliver as a debut album I can only say that I am more than surprised.
One little remark is that I expected some more fire in the music. Some more
aggression to make you really believe in the music.
Still, I am more than curious what the future will bring for this band. A pretty
nice debut album just waits for an even better follow up. Bands like
Machine Head, Lamb of God and Chimaira can be warned, Demia is starting the
way to become your follow up!
