After two full-lenght albums Leaves’ Eyes presents the fans with a live DVD, but not only that it also contains the story behind Leaves’Eyes and two CDs with the same tracks as played on the live performance on the DVD. The story behind the band is quite interesting for those who did not knew the band. They elaborate about how the band came to exists, tracing back to 1995 where Atrocity and Theatre of Tragedy toured together. Leaves’ Eyes is formed by members of these bands. What strikes me is that not only on stage but also on DVD the emphasis is clearly put on Liv Kristine. All the bands will talk about the band and their first tours in America, Australia and Europe. Besides that you will see Liv Krisines parents and her sister Carmen Espenaes (Midnattsol) to tell you more about her Norwegian background and the inspiration she gets from her countries history and nature.
The concert played at Belgium’s Metal Female Voices Festival in 2007 is shown on the DVD and also on a double CD. That they took a lot of effort for this show is clearly visable with a big show on stage, lots of costume changes and a wooden Viking ship on stage. It must be perfect for fans, I am not a big fan and the tracks that are more acoustic appeal to me a lot more because you can clearly hear each instrument, which fades in the other tracks. Liv’s voice is the most imporatant, as she is the angel and Alex Krull as the growling beast. The beginning of the DVD is not the best, but I need to give them credits that they released it. It seems they have little struggle with the sound and Liv does not hear herself which leads to off key moments, but you see her realising and redeeming it. The show is spectacular, with a nice light show and visuals. They know how to put drama and melancholy in their dreamlike theatrical music and show. This package is really nice for the fans, for people who are interested in the band it gives a really good impression about their shows and the background of the band.
