13-02-2011 Thin Lizzy

Supports: The Supersuckers; Venue: LKA Longhorn, Stuttgart (Germany)
By: Nina Mende

Tonight we were in Stuttgart to see a rock legend that literally everyone knows or at least has heard one or another song of them before. Like for example “Boys Are Back in Town” or “Whiskey In A Jar”. Damn right, I am talking about Thin Lizzy!

The current line-up of Thin Lizzy includes Ricky Warwick on lead vocals and occasionally on guitar, Scott Gorham on guitar and backing vocals, Vivian Campbell on guitar and backing vocals, Marco Mendoza on bass guitar and backing vocals, Darren Wharton on keyboards and backing vocals as well as Brian Downey on drums.

The venue was getting quite crowded during the opening act called The Supersuckers. The Supersuckers is an American rock band. They are the self-proclaimed “Greatest Rock ‘n’ Roll Band in the World.” Following the relative success of their 1997 foray into country music with the release of “Must’ve Been High”, they have also been known to play country shows under various names, including, of course, The Supersuckers. The Supersuckers were a great rock band. I only got to watch them from afar. But the audience liked them.

By now the LKA Longhorn in Stuttgart was close to being packed. You could find fans of all ages in the audience. Generations came together to see a true rock legend. They played for about two hours, performing all their hits like “Emerald”, “Whiskey In The Jar”, “Rosalie”, “Cowboy Song”, “The Boys Are Back In Town”, “Killer On The Lose”, and many more. The audience could sing along to all songs. Moved along and clapped along, the cheering after each song was immense. Thin Lizzy put up an amazing stage performance with awesome light. They all rocked around on stage and shared their passion for music with the audience. Each musician of the current line up was introduced individually. Each one received a lot of cheering from the audience. While watching Thin Lizzy live you felt like being transported back in time to the 80s where rock bands like Thin Lizzy were huge! The stage light and set up was brilliant. Thin Lizzy came back twice for encore. As one of the last songs they played “Black Rose”. It was an amazing and breathtaking show! I am so grateful that I got to see such an amazing band live.
