Scandinavia and Electro is a combination that delivered constant quality and innovation for almost two decades. Many releases from Apoptygma Berzerk, Covenant, Waves Under Water, Cat Rapes Dog, Beati Mortui to Spetznaz and Elegant Machinery are a radiant proof. The Nordic Trio Terje, Petter and Jarle just started, there is much more to come. The double album features also various remixes from bands like Kant Kino and NorthBorne.
Substaat and their new album comes with eleven new tracks plus nine remixes on the bonus disc. Throughout each song the music and melody remains quite steady without much changing. The EBM music almost gets you in a kind of trance. The vocals are deep and sometimes with an echo. Eleven tracks perfect for electro parties and for the dance floors in gothic clubs. Basic EBM music with no fancy add-ons in the music, Substaat are keeping it simple. The album layout is quite simple as well but still includes a lot of elements. The remix album adds a lot more diversity to the whole collection of new tracks. An interesting CD you should not leave out. The new self titled album by Substaat definitely belongs in every collection of EBM fans out there, especially the old school ones!
