The five guys
signed a record deal in 2003 and released the albums “Rakkautta ja piikkilankaa”
and “Kehä”. These two albums contained some real hit singles
such as “Kylmä”, “Huomenna”, “Rakkautta ja piikkilankaa”
and some more.
Now, since August 22nd, their third album “Luotisade” is out, and
I will tell you about it. So here we go:

First of all: Uniklubi is often considered a teeny band, but the new al bum
sounds so much more grown up than the past ones.
Then there are two things I really like about Uniklubi.
1st: typical for Uniklubi is that they are mostly quiet at the verses, but rock
at the choruses. Their songs get stuck in your head quite easily, eventhough
you might not understand the words, the sound of the songs tells you enough
about the song. Their captivating melodies make you think about everything for
quite some time.
2nd: Jussi’s voice is great, he can sing high as well as low. And the band has
a really nice sense of arrangements for the songs.

The album starts out with an intro by a little kid singing a kids rhyme before
“kiveen” starts out. “Kiveen” has this typical style of
quiet vocals at the verses but rocking at the choruses and bridges. This song
also has some outstanding and really nice bass riffs.
The next song is “älä jää”. This one makes you
move along with the beat and has some nice piano parts in the background. Jussi’s
voice lets you drift away into a dream world…….
“Vnus” is the first single and a party song. It get’s stuck in your
head quite easily and is a perfect choice for the first single. “Vnus”
makes you sing and move along . A really great song followed by “Luotisade”,
the ballad of the album and the next single release. “Luotisade” is
a quite sad song. You can feel the tragic in this song and it makes you think
about many things in your life. A very beautiful composition, you can feel the
emotions put into it.
“Myrkky” makes you dance again, a very powerful song.
“Vapauta meidät” is another piece, which is slow in the beginning
but powerful in the choruses. The bridge is accompanied by an accoustic guitar.

“Varjoon juuttunut” has some outstanding bass riffs again and slowly
brings in all the other instruments of the band before it becomes powerful and
animates you to join the beats.
“paha sisällä” is an energetic song with some really nice
guitar riffs.
“aika mustaa muistot” starts out with and accoustic way and stays
that way until the end. Somehow a little bit romatic and melancholic.
“Varjot” is a very powerful song with lots of emotions packed into
it, but despite all the sad emotions you can feel in this song, it puts a soft
smile into your face.
“se ei lähde pois” begins with a nice pan flute like intro followed
by accoustic guitar but turns into a real rock song that makes you move again.

A very nice 3rd album of Uniklubi. A must for everybody who loves Finnish bands,
and everybody who likes good music.

line up:
 Jussi Selo – vocals
Janne Selo – guitar and backing vocals
Pasi Viitala – guitar
Teemu Rajamäki – bass and backing vocals
Antti Martikainen – drums

 1.
