Tonight Technicolour played at the open-air stage Espan Lava in the middle of

 Helsinki.

Technicolour makes rock music with a huge crossover appeal, but actually it sounds more like pop. Having released three albums in the same amount of years they are one of the biggest bands in Finland. Their debut Way Out spawned 3 hits including the beautiful and poignant Fireflies. Only Shadows Dance saw them put on their dancing shoes when the discorock single Teach Me Love played constantly on the radio. The singalongish All My Life, a song that lead singer Jimi originally wrote for the finnish Idols winner was also a huge hit. All My Life and Teach Me Love made the top 3 on the finnish radio control charts staying there for more than eight weeks each. Their latest effort People is already taking Finland by storm. The single Someday is getting heavy radioplay from virtually every station. Known for their awesome live performances the band have performed close to 300 shows in Finland.

Since they played only for a little less than 45 minutes they played all released

singles such as “All my Life”, “Firefly”, “Teach me

love”, “Someday” and only some unreleased ones from the albums.

As encore they played two U2 covers.

Jimi (the singer) animated all fans, who were already waiting all day for Technicolour,

to dance and sing along. And even if you were just standing in front of the

stage because you had nothing better to do, you were singing and moving along,

simply because the music is getting in your head so easy. Gary (guitar) was

interacting with the fans in front of the stage quite heavily and played his

guitar like he’d seen it from his idols, including the “use the guitar

as a gun” thingy. It looked quite funny and the audience loved it.

Toni (bass) kept the rockerface most of the time (no emotions shown), and Dingo

(drums) , well, dingo didn’t care for much, he was happy behind his drums. Only

as Jimi was introducing the band, Dingo came up front and did this little dance

 with Jimi. It looked hilarious.

What more can I tell you about the gig? It was short but very energetic. If

you like having fun try to catch Technicolour live. You won’t regret it.
