\n\u00a0 A lot of things going on for Sonata Arctica, Touring all over the world with
\n\u00a0 their latest release Unia. Tempelores prepared some questions for them.
\n– How are you?<\/strong>Tony: “Pretty ok, it is really hot in here. I hope that cloud gives us
\n\u00a0 some shade.”<\/p>\n

– With the latest release Unia, it seems like you have chosen a new path for
\n\u00a0 Sonata Arctica. Slower songs. Are you satisfied with the results?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tony: “Actually, the whole band is! We slowly took the speed down and
\n\u00a0 it is a process which is going on for a while. Now we started with doing something
\n\u00a0 we like ourselves. I am really, really excited about the album. ”<\/p>\n

Elias: “I like the older stuff very much, but this new album is for my
\n\u00a0 taste really good.”<\/p>\n

– Where did you get the inspiration from for the Lyrics on Unia?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tony: “I just dropped the speed. At some point I realized I didn’t had
\n\u00a0 any takakata *makes fast movements with his hands* songs in there. I did not
\n\u00a0 want to go there anymore. We don’t do things for the sake of things we have
\n\u00a0 always done. I think that is wrong. I just wrote the songs as they came. Most
\n\u00a0 people accept it.”<\/p>\n

– A lot of people have been labeling you to power metal. With every release
\n\u00a0 you have made you seem to have made a step further away from power metal. How\u00a0do you think about labeling music like this in general?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tony: “Well it really get things easier for some people. But there are
\n\u00a0 bands which like to use a wide span of styles in their music. Labeling us powermetal
\n\u00a0 would be wrong, although we have quite some powermetal songs. Especially the
\n\u00a0 older albums. They are powermetal! But we have been moving away from that and
\n\u00a0 I think I would call us rock, or maybe metal. Rock\/metal. It is making more
\n\u00a0 sense, at least to me, I think. But labeling us powermetal would be wrong”<\/p>\n

– But you won’t mind if people are doing it?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tony: “No.. I don’t really care.”<\/p>\n

– Do you see the release of Unia as a new start in the career?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tony: “Yeah maybe\u2026 There are a lot of things changing. We mostly
\n\u00a0 please our self with what we are doing. We must think of songs which we are also
\n\u00a0 able to play when we are older. *laughs*”<\/p>\n

– Where is the name Unia coming from?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tony: “It is a Finnish word meaning Dreams. There was another title which
\n\u00a0 I already thought of, but people could have understood it in a wrong way. Same
\n\u00a0 thing with the word gay. In English language it is happy, but where are you
\n\u00a0 thinking of when hearing the word gay?… So it’s not this\u2026 but same idea.
\n\u00a0 Most of the graphics were already done. We did not have time to do all the graphics
\n\u00a0 again and we needed a title that kind of make sense. The Finnish word Unia was
\n\u00a0 perfect. Because just dreams would sound stupid.<\/p>\n

– You released a video “paid in full” from the Unia album. Are there
\n\u00a0 more video’s planned?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tony: “We don’t have any straight plans to do that, but it is good that
\n\u00a0 you remind me because I have to ask about it.”<\/p>\n

– In this upcoming tour, you are going to do some shows together with Epica\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tony: “Yeah, it is going to be cool! It is good to have them as support
\n\u00a0 act there. It is still a long way, we are playing Mexico and America before.”<\/p>\n

– Do you think that Epica fans will like the music of Sonata arctica?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tony: “Hopefully! And I hope our fans like Epica as well.”<\/p>\n

– Is the music of Epica closer to where Sonata arctica will come musically
\n\u00a0 in the future?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tony: “I have no idea. After releasing Recknoning Night people asked me
\n\u00a0 the same question. Maybe we’ll do the same sort of thing, maybe it radically
\n\u00a0 changes.”<\/p>\n

– Besides Sonata Arctica I have heard you have done several side projects,
\n\u00a0 Like writing a song for the idols winner. Can you tell us more about your side projects?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tony: “yeah I have some small projects\u2026 the one I am working on\u2026
\n\u00a0 is a little bit secret.”<\/p>\n

– And the rest of the band?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Elias: “I am having my guitar instrumental band. And I am in a progressive
\n\u00a0 metalband.”<\/p>\n

– I saw on several forums writing about a sonata arctica game (winterhearts
\n\u00a0 guild). Is the game already released?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tony: “No not at all, I haven’t heard of the guys for a few months. We
\n\u00a0 suppose to record some stuff over summer but have not heard of it. There is
\n\u00a0 a lot of work in the game.”<\/p>\n

– So, what kind of game will it be?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tony: “I don’t know\u2026 You know World of Warcraft???”<\/p>\n

– Yes I know<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tony: “will be running around and shooting. I don’t know exactly\u2026
\n\u00a0 I have only seen the pictures and moving demo. I don’t want to read much about\u2026
\n\u00a0 I want to play the game!”<\/p>\n

\u00a0 – That was going to be my next question.. Do you like playing games yourself?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tony: “Yeah.. Grand theft auto, world of warcraft\u2026 some similar games\u2026”<\/p>\n

\u00a0 – With having so many international fans around, do you still have contact with fans who already know you from the start?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tony:”Of course we recognize them when we see them at our shows. Also,
\n\u00a0 I try to answer as much as emails as possible, but it’s impossible to answer
\n\u00a0 every mail. When there is a short mail with one or two questions, then it is
\n\u00a0 pretty easy but sometimes\u2026 people write like novels. There is no way I
\n\u00a0 can do that! Business mails, of course, come first.”<\/p>\n

– Brings me to the question: How do you think of media as myspace.com and forums…?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tony: “well.. I don’t know. I have nothing to do with myspace. I am not
\n\u00a0 sure if we have a myspace\u2026 If we have\u2026 at least the band is not controlling
\n\u00a0 it. Youtube\u2026 in a way is good, but then the downside is that people uploading
\n\u00a0 copyright material. They should not be able to use the songs. I saw a video
\n\u00a0 from Power of one. The compiled the music in the scenes from their movie. It
\n\u00a0 is beautiful, but still it is wrong!”<\/p>\n

– How do you feel about downloading?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tony: “Well if you download it for free.. of course that is wrong! How
\n\u00a0 would you feel if you have a garden full tomatoes and your neighbor is secretly
\n\u00a0 taking your tomatoes. It is exactly the same thing! Only, what we do\u2026 is
\n\u00a0 so easy to steal.”<\/p>\n

– Do you have any goals, which you would like reach?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tony: “well\u2026 we would be very happy to continue doing this thing
\n\u00a0 on the level we are. As long as we are able to tour all over the world, then
