After their debut album White Elephant in 2022, the band underwent some important changes, most notably the arrival of vocalist Wouter Van Kerschaver and guitarist Dempsey Derous. Those changes have clearly influenced the band's second release. Imminence is an ambitious two-part album that sees Aeveris pushing their melodic metalcore towards a heavier, more mature and more emotionally charged sound.

Imminence is divided into Act I: Roots and Act II: Revelations. The first five songs deal with external expectations, pressure, rejection and the struggle to remain true to yourself, while the second act explores the emotional consequences and the difficulty of dealing with those experiences. Musically, Aeveris balance crushing riffs with melodic guitar work and technical drumming. The opening The Mask immediately establishes that contrast, moving between aggressive vocals and more melodic passages. Gravity follows with an infectious chorus, while Theft Of Time demonstrates how effectively the band can shift between heavier and more restrained sections.

The second half expands that formula rather than simply repeating it. The Ghost Inside, And Then There Were None and Quicksand continue to combine modern metalcore aggression with accessible melodies, while Sheep Who Suffer raises the energy level again. Tendrils Of Regret provides an appropriately emotional conclusion. One of the album’s strongest qualities is the variation in Wouter Van Kerschaver’s vocals: screams, growls and clean singing give the songs considerably more colour. The production is equally impressive, with sharp guitars and powerful drums keeping the heavier passages punchy without sacrificing the melodic elements.

Imminence is therefore more than simply a collection of modern metalcore songs. Aeveris have taken the time to give the album a thematic structure while making sure the individual tracks remain accessible. The band may wear their influences openly, with echoes of Slipknot, Killswitch Engage, Lamb Of God and Arch Enemy audible throughout, but the combination of aggression, melody and varied vocals gives the album its own identity. For listeners looking for modern metalcore that delivers both weight and emotional depth, Aeveris are a band worth discovering.

Line up:

Wouter Van Kerschaver – vocals

Jeffrey Behiels – guitar

Dempsey Derous – guitar

Pieter Nyckees – bass

Louis Van der Linden – drums

Tracklist

Act I: Roots

The Mask

Gravity

Theft Of Time

Downfall

Show Me Your Weakness

Act II: Revelations

The Ghost Inside

And Then There Were None

Quicksand

Sheep Who Suffer

Tendrils Of Regret

Links:

Official

Releasedate: 23-05-2026 Belgian metalcore band Aeveris formed in 2021, bringing together musicians with experience in bands including Fields Of Troy, Thorium, Lethal Injury and Always Fallen.
