Three years later their debut full length “Life Imitates Art” saw lights and anno 2008 the band releases “Beyond Good And Evil”.

The band their self describes their style as “somewhere in the middle of Napalm Death and Primus”. Quite a matching description to my opinion. In their music the bass is the most prominent instrument, drums are more behind, and were programmed. The album contains 15 songs, some of them pretty short.
The fun parts on “Beyond Good and Evil” are those funky guitar riffs a bit like you have the humppa folk metal married with the death metal scene. Then a couple minutes later you hear some more industrial influences while you end up with reggae! You have to give control out of your hands and listen to this original approach, it will surprise you! It’s a good thing that this band doesn’t copy their influences that much, but create an own sound here.

Hearing back a little bit of Macabre in some songs, the earlier named Primus and the folk influences a la Korpiklaani. Stir it up in a big cooking pot, add One Step Beyond. Add some more of your favourite ingredients to make it up to your taste.
Cook this softly till it boils. Then let it simmer for about 45 minutes and then you have “Beyond Good and Evil”.

Line Up:
Mad Matt – Vocals, bass, beat programming, guitars
Justin Wood – Vocals
Pahl Hodgson – Guitars

Tracklist:
01 True Faced
02 Birth of Disease
03 The Party
04 Your God
05 Maniac / Watch your Back
06 Mirrorstance
07 Everyday
08 Black Light Blue
09 Depth of Mind
10 Made for Cable
11 Chase
12 Foot High Tough Guy
13 Blinding Haze
14 The Calm Before
15 Free to Air

Links:
One Step Beyond MySpace

Releasedate: 29-09-2008 By: Sabine van Gameren The Australian death metal band One Step Beyond had their first release in 1999, about two years after they formed the band.
