Lukestar is a band from Norway. Their first release came in 2004 and their upcoming release “Lake Toba” will be released at September 22nd.

In the first search to find out more about what kind of music Lukestar makes I saw they placed their selves in the genre of Japanse classic music. I can imagine that most of you have no idea what that is suppose to mean so I can help you out with telling that their music sounds similar to Lapko and Rubik. The dreaminess of the vocals and the rhythmic guitar sounds are the binding factors in here. This dreaminess already starts at the cover. It looks a bit like it is artwork in an old book of fairytales.

The songs on this album fit together like it is one big story. When putting this music on while being busy of it, you won’t even know how many songs you already heard after a while. As a little break in this the eight’ song on the album “Intermission to Io” might be mentioned. This short song (1.05 minutes) is completely instrumental.

Although it is often said in this sort of music that the sound is driven by the guitars and the high, catchy vocals, in this situation I would mention the drums here as being the element that really takes the music to the highest level.

The album closes quite abrupt after eleven songs. I slightly awake from a fantasy world when the silence is there for half a minute already.
