That was because the first band had cancelled on short notice. The audience was almost completely different from what it usually is. There were more Punks this time. But many teenagers as well, and parents of course, as usual. Since it was starting out later than usual there were already many people as it began.

The first band was a Death Metal band called Unknown Darkness, founded in fall 2005. These four guys were rocking the stage big time and the singer screaming as much as he could. They banged, they rocked, they were loud, and the audience loved them for that. And so it happened that they got voted fourth that night and we will see them again in the Batschkapp for the Semifinals.

Next band was a female-fronted band called Simon Stars. The singer was very shy on stage and didn’t really interact with the music but also not with the audience. She was more behaving like a fifth grader at the choir tryouts. But the whole band didn’t interact too much at all. And then the vocals were too quiet, or else it might have been much better, but we simply couldn’t hear much of her voice. But besides all that was the rock music they were playing quite good. They didn’t bring any fans or friends and they couldn’t convince too many people from the audience either. Too bad, but oh well. That’s live, that’s Emergenza.

The following band had much more fun playing and also got more interaction with the audience going: Deuce. The band was founded in early 2005 in a small town near Frankfurt, Germany. They knew how to use their half an hour right and put up a very energetic performance with loads of band and audience interaction. I only didn’t get why the audience was always screaming orange juice or something like that. They played energetic Hard Rock that got you moving along with the beats. I don’t know if it was because they brought many fans and friends or if they were simply that good or a little bit of both, but they got the most voices of all.

Up next was Polly Phonic, another band that had fun with what they are doing. They were rocking the Nachtleben with their Alternative Rock and got the audience to dance. The singer was talking quite a lot and we all had to laugh a lot. Very nice guys and very nice music. You could tell that these guys enjoy making music and also enjoyed being onstage performing. And we all enjoyed them as well. So it was no wonder they ended up second of the night.

And over to the next one: Milchmädchen. Another female-fronted rock band, but this time the singer had much more fire and were a way better performer than the other females of the night. She played acoustic guitar most of the time and was rocking the stage. The songs were in German and taken out of the daily life. The band enjoyed performing and the singer said something like they are touring through Frankfurt right now. It was a great band, great music, nice performance. The catchy melodies and songs just made you move. So I am very happy to see them in the next round. Great band!!

The following band, The Big Fat Skeletones, was formed in 2005, includes a female singer and was playing Blues Rock, but some people were going upstairs to the Café floor while they were playing, I included. I just had to get a coffee and some fresh air. That was probably the reason why they only ended up fifth. So besides the fact that they were loud and got a lot of cheering afterwards, I cannot tell you much more about that band. I am sorry.

The last band of the night was the band Swelter. They played Metal, but it was “hearable” Metal, so suitable for my taste of music. They did a quite nice performance. But unfortunately some people had left already because it was getting late. The audience was not that big anymore but the once who still were there danced, moshed and banged. A great night, another nice Emergenza. Let’s see what the Semifinals bring!!!

Links:
Unknown Darkness MySpace
Deuce MySpace
The Big Fat Skeletones MySpace
Swelter MySpace

Venue: Nachtleben, Frankfurt (Germany) By: Nina Mende Emergenza started out half an hour later this time than it usually starts.
