Tonight there was no support band, but I think nobody wanted to see any either.\ufffd
\nWe all came to see Amorphis and wanted them only. The venue was literally packed\u00a0with people. The gig was sold out, and no wonder because Helsinki is Amorphis’\u00a0hometown.<\/p>\n

My expectations were quite high because I have seen the band twice before and\u00a0those gigs were amazing. Maybe today I was not in such a great awe of seeing\u00a0the band and less adrenaline rushing through my body. Tonight I listened more\u00a0to their songs. And what I noticed was that you could hear the keyboards a bit\u00a0better. The hole blend of music got me a little more than at the other gigs.
\nThey really took me on a Kalevala journey. (as their lyrics are based on the\u00a0Finnishe epos Kalevala), they had taken me on their path through various songs.\ufffd
\nThe band has been around for 18 years and delivered many albums. What surprised
\nme tonight was that, when you go see a band, they mainly play songs from their
\nlatest album. Of course they did, they played: \u201cSilent Water\u201d, \u201cTowards
\nand Against\u201d, \u201cHer Alone\u201d and \u201cThe White Swan\u201d. Never thought they would play that last one live, but this night they had played more songs I did not expect. Like \u201cInto Hiding\u201d, \u201cDrowned Maid\u201d and \u201cBetter Unborn\u201d, which they also had not played in a long time\u00a0according to them. You could hear it because the song was less perfect, not\u00a0so polished. But therefore even more amazing.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 This gig had once again all the ingredients you need in order to get that Amorphis
\n\u00a0 feeling, like I said it looked like they took me on a musical journey. They
\n\u00a0 had the keyboards, played by Santeri Kallio, thatstood out a little more than
\n\u00a0 on the CD. It is nice to listen to Amorphis because they have those beautiful
\n\u00a0 melody lines and great guitar riffs mixed with the clean vocals and growls of
\n\u00a0 Tomi Joutsen. This together creates their own sound.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 What I also noticed was that there were many foreign people around. And one
\n\u00a0 thing people like to see is the head-banging dreads from Tomi Joutsen. Those
\n\u00a0 dreads seem to be so long, but maybe it helps that Tomi himself is not that
\n\u00a0 tall. But it is definitely a great thing to see.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 During the last song before the encore, \u201cThe Orphan\u201d, Tomi Joutsen
\n\u00a0 had left the stage. In this way the others played an amazing solo that lasted
\n\u00a0 extremely long. It was time for the guys on the guitars to show their abilities.
\n\u00a0 After the encore they played \u201cLeaves Scar\u201d and \u201cHouse of Sleep\u201d.
\n\u00a0 Two amazing songs and a crowd that cheered. With “House of Sleep”
\n\u00a0 I got shivers because it was so good and the only thing I could see was the
\n\u00a0 arms of all the people in front of me up in the air. And many people were singing
\n\u00a0 along. Definitely a great gig<\/p>\n
