\u00a0 Three metal bands on a Tuesday evening and I was worried about how many people
\n\u00a0 would show up. I was proved right, there were not as many people as these bands
\n\u00a0 deserve, but still there were enough people to make it a good evening. <\/p>\n\n\n
It was up to the French band \u201cDestinity\u201d to attract more people to\u00a0the stage. Destinity exists for\u00a0more than ten years and you could describe their music as trash\/death metal\u00a0but you can say there are a bit more extreme mixed with fast guitar riffs. Mick,\u00a0the singer, is fun to watch he is literally getting his growls from his toes,\u00a0his whole body is tense when he puts more energy and strength in his grunting.\u00a0\u00a0 They have toured with bands like Cradle of Filth and Enthroned and you could\u00a0see they are relaxed on the stage but I missed a little more interaction, which\u00a0was, I have to admit, hard because the crowd was not willing to respond when\u00a0they tried.There was one thing I did not like about their music and that was the clean\u00a0vocals. Maybe it was just the sound in the venue but when there were clean vocals\u00a0I could not hear Mick growling any more, it kind of disappeared. The clean vocals\u00a0were not that good, and for me personally they could have left it out and add
\nmore keyboard. The bass-player, David, had some technical problems as well with\u00a0his microphone, he was grunting on a cover of Amon Amarth but you could not\u00a0hear him. So he gave up and just played. A bit sad because it sounded quite\u00a0good. I was standing in front of him and could hear him without the use of his\u00a0microphone.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n

\n\u00a0 <\/center><\/p>\n\n\n

\nIt seemed that this evening \u201cSevere Torture\u201d had the most fans. Maybe\u00a0because they are from The Netherlands. They got more response from the audience\u00a0and even got a small pit going. It also seemed that communicating in Dutch was\u00a0better for the audience to respond to. Dennis, their singer, was standing with\u00a0spread legs moving his head, but it looked a bit funny because there was no\u00a0long hair to head bang with.Severe Torture plays death metal in a more \u201cold school\u201d style mixed\u00a0with some grindcore elements. It can be said that the guitar riffs were more\u00a0brutal and very fast usually followed up by some more. Their latest release\u00a0once again displays their ability to play in varied, pounding and raging tempo’s.
\nBut beyond that they took more time to work out the guitar lines resulting in\u00a0more varied guitar play which sometimes creates a more groovy sound.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n

\nThen it was time for \u201cDew Scented\u201d from Germany and they were ready\u00a0to build a little party because Alexander the bass player was having his birthday\u00a0and I think it was announced 3 times, and as a surprise his string broke. Lucky\u00a0birthday guy. They played their songs quite fast and played many songs, expanded\u00a0their performing time and therefore skipped leaving the stage and coming back\u00a0\u00a0 for the encore, they just played.At one time Leif, their singer, said about a song: \u201cThis is actually a\u00a0love song, it is about betrayal….and all good things in life.\u201d Now I
\n\u00a0 always find it weird to believe that the growling is about love and the fastness\u00a0and enraged strength of riffs seem more to be about betrayal and anger to me\u00a0than the beauty of love.<\/p>\n

Alexander (bass) and Flo (guitar) were not shy to show their skills and stepped\u00a0forward to claim some attention for their own playing. The crowd responded with\u00a0some screaming when they were not joining the pit. It was a bit sad that the\u00a0\u00a0 lighting on stage was not that good, it was quite dark and the drummer was hidden\u00a0in darkness but surely delivered his contribution. Leif thanked the crowd for\u00a0coming out the see them on a Tuesday, thanked the venue for having them and\u00a0said they had a great time on stage. That was something you could notice. They\u00a0 were pulling faces to each other and laughing. I think the crowd had a good\u00a0time as well.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n
