\u00a0 The German foursome known as 4lyn has made some serious strides since forming
\n\u00a0 shortly after the dawn of the 21st century. They\u2019ve released four charting,
\n\u00a0 well-received albums, along with a slew of successful singles. They\u2019ve
\n\u00a0 toured the length and breadth of Europe with such stars as Papa Roach, Thumb
\n\u00a0 and Therapy?–including a July 2006 gig in exotic Istanbul, Turkey, as sole
\n\u00a0 support act for Guns \u2019N Roses, where 4lyn raised the roof with a rocking
\n\u00a0 performance in front of 15,000 appreciative fans. <\/p>\n

\u00a0 Half a dozen music videos have received prominent airplay from a variety of
\n\u00a0 sources, including MTV Europe, VIVA, VIVA Plus, NBC GIGA and many more. They\u2019ve
\n\u00a0 made numerous appearances on European television, including MTV Select and \u201cTop
\n\u00a0 of the Pops.\u201d They contributed a song, \u201cMe vs. Me,\u201d to the top
\n\u00a0 action movie of 2002, the Vin Diesel vehicle \u201cXXX\u201d (\u201cTriple X\u201d),
\n\u00a0 and also had their tune \u201cKisses of a Strobe Light\u201d chosen for a worldwide
\n\u00a0 television campaign by French auto maker Renault. Video game manufacturer Sega
\n\u00a0 hand-picked the band to do music for their popular \u201cSega Soccer Slam\u201d
\n\u00a0 title\u2026and as if that weren\u2019t enough, they also composed the theme
\n\u00a0 song, \u201cGo, Sea Devils,\u201d for the local NFL Europe squad, the Hamburg
\n\u00a0 Sea Devils, and performed at halftime during several of their games.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 An impressive r\u00e9sum\u00e9 for a young band, no? Now, though, the Hamburg-based
\n\u00a0 quartet is ready to take it to a higher level yet with the January 2008 release
\n\u00a0 of “Hello,” their fifth studio album.
\n\u00a0 And this album is also the one I will try giving you an impression of.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 As I listened to the album for the first three times it caused mayor confusion.
\n\u00a0 I really did not know what to think of it.
\n\u00a0 4lyn is a rock band, I would even say hard rock band some times, but this album
\n\u00a0 seemed different. The album starts out quite hard. The catchy lyrics at the
\n\u00a0 chorus of \u201cThe Grind\u201d remind of some big hits from the 90s. It continues
\n\u00a0 with \u201cShadow Valley\u201d, a song with a very catchy melody, perfect for
\n\u00a0 a radio song. The beginning of \u201cHello (For You I\u2019m Dying)\u201d gives
\n\u00a0 you the impression of Ron (the singer) being around because of the clear and
\n\u00a0 somehow close vocals right at your ear. \u201cHello \u2026\u201d also sounds
\n\u00a0 like a great new anthem for gigs, which the fans of 4lyn can shout until the
\n\u00a0 band comes on stage. Let\u2019s see if they think so too. The following \u201cWorld\u2019s
\n\u00a0 Gone Crazy\u201d sounds nice melodic and melancholic with a nice voice there.
\n\u00a0 \u201cToo Much Of Anything\u201d sticks out somehow, because of the sound, the
\n\u00a0 lyrics and just the whole arrangement of the song. My favorite on the album,
\n\u00a0 \u201cNostalgia\u201d, is a great and powerful song with very thoughtful lyrics.
\n\u00a0 \u201cThis Heart\u201d sounds quite sad.
\n\u00a0 All in all the album rocks big time. It varies from slow and melancholic, hard
\n\u00a0 rock and quite aggressive and even sounds mainstream and pop at some times.
\n\u00a0 Very interesting to listen to. The lyrics on the album are easy to memorize
\n\u00a0 and some of the melodies sound quite familiar, therefore nice for live shows
\n\u00a0 because people will get the impression they know the songs already. Take your
\n\u00a0 chance to check them out on tour.<\/p>\n\n\n
