\u00a0 Waterfront is not exactly my most favorite venue of Rotterdam, but tonight I
\n\u00a0 had a good reason to be there. Popunie, an institute which supports local music,
\n\u00a0 released an album called \u201cHeartbreakers & Ass Shakers part II\u201d.
\n\u00a0 On two CD\u2019s you can listen to the hottest local bands. Perhaps your future
\n\u00a0 heroes! 44 different artists, so there is quite some choice!<\/p>\n\n\n
\u00a0 Some of those 44 artists were performing on this album release party. Mono
\n\u00a0 was honored to start in the caf\u00e9 of Waterfront with an acoustic set.
\n\u00a0 The music was quite calm. Too boring to my taste. When the vocalist sung the
\n\u00a0 words \u201cI am wasting my time writing songs about nothing\u201d I was out.
\n\u00a0 The evening is still young, and I rather stayed awake so I made my way over
\n\u00a0 to the other side of Waterfront where Embrace Fire would play. I will check
\n\u00a0 out this band again when they are not playing acoustically. Perhaps I will like
\n\u00a0 them more when they rock like they should.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n

<\/center><\/p>\n\n\n
\u00a0 Embrace Fire is a band with many familiar faces for those who are visiting
\n\u00a0 bands on a regular basis in Rotterdam. The band exists of members of bands like
\n\u00a0 Face Tomorrow, Springrain and Raise Kain. They make typical indie rock. Typical
\n\u00a0 music I would put on as a background when working. The performance surprised
\n\u00a0 me in a positive way. I liked the emotional sound in the vocalist voice. Their
\n\u00a0 performance was also quite active, which is mentionable because I would have
\n\u00a0 expected something calmer when I checked their MySpace before. Though as
\n\u00a0 final point I got a little disappointed because I was more or less waiting for
\n\u00a0 a clue, a point where everything burst out at once, but that point did not really
\n\u00a0 come.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n

\u00a0 In the caf\u00e9 of Waterfront The Real Danger was playing. This band makes
\n\u00a0 typical punk rock like NoFX and Black Flag. Of course, we could expect a gig
\n\u00a0 full of action from them. Though, the band did not seem to have a lucky night.
\n\u00a0 They had to work with another drummer, since their own drummer could not drum
\n\u00a0 due to medical issues. One of the guitarists broke a string in the first song.
\n\u00a0 It took quite some time before he was able to fix it and unfortunately they
\n\u00a0 could only play for half an hour. Anyway, they kept on playing and do what they
\n\u00a0 were supposed to do. I can say they did a great job here!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n

\u00a0 When The [New] Shining entered the stage, the audience changed. Some more rock
\n\u00a0 people showed up, people who appreciate some more guitar power. The band works
\n\u00a0 under this name since 2006, when lead singer Xander Stok joined. The lyrics
\n\u00a0 stick in mind easily, aggression and melodic music in one package. All well
\n\u00a0 arranged! Their music is steady and is just there. How you take it is up to
\n\u00a0 you. Personally, I thought I recognized the sound of Mustasch
\n\u00a0 , mixed with a little sugar to sweet up the vocals.
\n\u00a0 I enjoyed this band. I also have to mention that they had a good interaction
\n\u00a0 with the audience, which I had not seen before this evening.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n

\u00a0 Next was Nine Volt. Nine volt is quite known in the area of Rotterdam. Last
\n\u00a0 year, on national holiday \u201cQueensday\u201d they were booked three times
\n\u00a0 on one day. Also, they won the Emergenza band contest in Netherlands and released
\n\u00a0 their debut album \u201cNine Volt\u201d. Guitar rock like you haven\u2019t
\n\u00a0 heard before. That Nine Volt is known here in Rotterdam results in many people
\n\u00a0 showing up at the front row and a filled Waterfront. Tonight they had their
\n\u00a0 first show with their new drummer and he got a warm welcome from the audience.
\n\u00a0 What I like about Nine Volt is the energy on stage. The audience gets sucked
\n\u00a0 into the music and you can not just walk away. Nice show once again from Nine
\n\u00a0 Volt. I feel recharged!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n

<\/center>\u00a0 Pornologic will be the last what is going on Waterfront. Time to leave and
\n\u00a0 listen to the cd at home. 44 artists, some of them seen live, some of them not
