\u00a0 Formed back in 2003, Break of Reality is an American cello-rock band, founded
\n\u00a0 by freshmen at The Eastman School of Musicwhich city, Rochester, New York. In
\n\u00a0 2007 all band members graduated from this school. The founding members are:
\n\u00a0 Patrick Laird, Erin Keesecker and Chris Thibdeau. At the time of formation the
\n\u00a0 band consisted of four cellists, in 2004 their drummer Ivan Trevino joined the
\n\u00a0 band. <\/p>\n

\u00a0 One of their influences is Apocalyptica, the band who introduced celli into
\n\u00a0 rock music. A comparison between bands is easily made because there aren’t many
\n\u00a0 bands like them around but they also have many other similarities. Musically
\n\u00a0 schooled backgrounds of the members and both bands started out without drums.
\n\u00a0 Although the band has many similarities with Apocalyptica they do create their
\n\u00a0 own sound. In 2004 the band released their first album \u201cVoiceless\u201d
\n\u00a0 and released their second album \u201cThe Sound Between\u201d in 2006, followed
\n\u00a0 by a bonus version with five acoustic songs.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u201cThe Sound Between\u201d is a good name that describes the band. You can
\n\u00a0 see this as the sound between classical music and rock. Their compositions are
\n\u00a0 varied. Sometimes you can hear a bit more of a classical influence or approach
\n\u00a0 and the other song is pure rock. The drums definitely add to the rock-ish sound.
\n\u00a0 The band does not need distortion on guitars to create that metal\/rock sound,
\n\u00a0 they rather use their deep cello sounds which can be overwhelming at some points.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u201cParabolic Cosmos\u201d is one of those songs that start with a classic
\n\u00a0 touch but it changes, to show the deep almost moaning sound of the cello. When
\n\u00a0 the track is at its darkest point, with some distortion added to the cello,
\n\u00a0 it bursts out in some rock explosion. The drums join in and you just need to
\n\u00a0 sit back and let it surprise you.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 Another track that brings you some metal is \u201cSore Arms\u201d. They must
\n\u00a0 have had sore arms while recording this. The songs starts out with some deep,
\n\u00a0 slow cello sound joined by some percussion, which sounds quite jovial yet melancholic
\n\u00a0 but then there is this outburst of drums, followed by raging cellos which takes
\n\u00a0 it to an extreme level, but still some beautiful arrangement keeps shining that
\n\u00a0 leads you through the darkness of the metal.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 A funny thing on this album is the 30 seconds in the middle, it is called \u201cBlack
\n\u00a0 Noise\u201d. There is not much noise there but it builds up this great feeling
\n\u00a0 of a climax soon to come, but it doesn’t. It leaves you with the next track.
\n\u00a0 But is is okay, they make it up to you with tracks like \u201cScarred by Duty\u201d
\n\u00a0 and \u201cRise\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 Break of Reality is a great band that is working on their future. They are
\n\u00a0 ready to rock the stage in America. I really hope things will work out for this
\n\u00a0 band. They are talented musicians, they really know how to keep the connection
\n\u00a0 between classical cello music and the rougher edges of rock and metal. \u201cThe
\n\u00a0 Sound Between\u201d is definitely an album you need to hear when you like the
\n\u00a0 sounds of cellos going to the extreme<\/p>\n\n\n
